Event Details

We invite you to join us for the MY Community Cares Summit and Celebration – September 12-14, 2019 in Burnsville, NC

Tonier Cain-Muldrow, a trauma survivor and a person in long-term recovery from substance use, is an internationally recognized trauma-informed care expert. Her work has focused on heightening awareness of the characteristics and effects of trauma and improving the performance of service providers, businesses, government agencies and others who interact with trauma victims and survivors.

We are excited to bring Mrs. Cain-Muldrow to our community with goals of increasing awareness, bridging substance use prevention and recovery education, supporting people in recovery and people seeking recovery, addressing family cycles of addiction, increasing community resilience and education, and affecting system changes within agencies interacting with people in recovery and in active substance use.

Schedule of events:

  • Thursday, September 12, 2019 from 6:00-8:30 pm: Screening of “Healing Neen”, Mrs. Cain-Muldrow’s documentary detailing her personal journey – held at Mountain Heritage High School auditorium. Q&A and book signing with Mrs. Cain-Muldrow immediately following the film.
  • Friday, September 13, 2019 from 8:30 am – 5:00 pm: Full day of professional development and training with Tonier Cain-Muldrow at the Burnsville Town Center. “Certificate of Contact Hours” will be available for professionals who attend the full day of training. Lunch will be provided.
  • Saturday, September 14, 2019 from 1:00-4:00 pm: Recovery Celebration with keynote speaker Richie Tannerhill, food, and family-friendly fun on the Burnsville Town Square. We will be showing appreciation for and celebrating those in our community who are on their path to, or interested in a path to recovery, and also celebrating community action related to prevention, recovery, and healing of trauma from addiction. ALL are welcome and invited, including those in recovery, those interested in recovery, families and support systems, and community allies.
