Ashley Pogalz joined the PATH staff as our new Administrative Assistant — helping us manage our federal grant, preparing meeting minutes, and providing bookkeeping assistance. Already, Ashley has proven to be a valuable addition!

Next month, Brianna Robinson will join the team as our new Healthy Lifestyles Program Coordinator. In this newly created position, Brianna will be responsible for Healthy Lifestyles/Healthy Behaviors initiatives such as the Burnsville Fit Families 5K and the Sizzlin’ Summer Series. Having another set of hands on deck will enable us to expand our reach and develop some new initiatives. Stay tuned!

In addition, we are pleased to welcome several new board members! Amy Buchanan Collins is a longtime resident of Yancey County. As Assistant District Attorney, Amy became interested in serving on the PATH board because she is interested in helping the community overcome the drug crisis. Julena McQueen, who serves as the Golf Shop Manager/Merchandiser/Buyer at Mountain Air Country Club, has re-joined the board after a hiatus. Julena served on the board of Graham Children’s Health Services, and enjoyed being a part of projects such as Kid Mountain and the skate park at Ray-Cort Park. Brian Shuford, who worked for the Yancey County Sheriff’s Department, expressed an interest in serving on the PATH board because he serves on the board of the Mitchell-Yancey Substance Abuse Task Force and he enjoys serving others in our community. Chelsea Wilson Thayer, a Mitchell county native, is involved with PATH because she feels it is a vital program in our area and has the capacity to positively impact families that call the mountains home. Renee Weeks, who serves as Practice Manager at the Yancey Campus of Blue Ridge Medical Center, has joined the board as the Blue Ridge Regional Hospital representative.
