Burnsville Metric Race

This year’s ride is 62 miles, with 3,400 ft of ascent. The route is mostly held on very quiet and scenic roads, following the Cane and Toe rivers. The 2024 ride will feature family-friendly entertainment during the ride, a family ride, metric century, post-ride entertainment, and a vendors’ fair.

Parking on the town square will be much busier than in years past. We recommend parking at the lot on North Main by the DMV, the lot in front of Fill-More, the parking behind the farmers market, or the overflow at the Roses shopping center.

about the ride

The Burnsville Metric is a fully-supported metric century bike ride open to riders of all ages. This ride is not a race but a beautiful summer ride, suitable for riders of all levels above beginner. A timer will be running for the curious.

It is casual but well-supported and comprises some of the most scenic roads in Yancey and Mitchell counties. Burnsville’s Town Square makes a dramatic location for the registration/start/finish/meal proceedings and is also the highest elevation of the ride, a modest 2,821 feet.
