We have just wrapped up our summer delivery season, and while we are still in the process of quantifying our impact, we are pleased to share an update on what we accomplished during this summer’s program:

  • Along with our partner agencies, we made 5 deliveries, serving almost 100 families per week
  • 130 volunteers helped pack and deliver boxes over the course of the summer, clocking over 388 volunteer hours
  • We delivered 10,103 pounds of food purchased from Manna Food Bank and 2250 pounds of potatoes, 10 bushels of cucumbers, 450 heads of lettuce, 90 pints of blueberries, 450 bananas, 7 bushels of bell peppers, 180 heads of cabbage, 450 ears of corn, 923 pounds of apples. That’s a lot of fresh produce that was purchased from local farmers! Plus 900 bunching onion donated by Dig In! Yancey Community Garden…
  • We served 237 children, each of whom received books with every delivery!
