We have a wonderful new addition to the Partners Aligned Toward Health team. Meet our new Healthy Lifestyles Program Coordinator, Elizabeth, in her own words.

Elizabeth Stephens, MPH

Healthy Lifestyles Program Coordinator

I have spent my whole life in these mountains from my time growing up in Madison County to my undergraduate and graduate studies at East Tennessee State and now to my position as healthy lifestyles program coordinator for PATH here in Yancey county! I graduated with my Masters of Public Health in May of 2023 where I completed field work and a master’s thesis. I had the opportunity to complete my graduate field work with Madison County Health Department, where I was an essential part of their Community Health Assessment cycle. I spent time learning to interpret data, identify community needs, implement plans to address those needs, and create partnerships to assist in implementation! My thesis research was on early intervention and implementation of healthy habits and behaviors as means of prevention of chronic physical health issues and deteriorating mental health.

I have a passion for community wellness in its entirety! Physical health of individuals, mental health, and overall social wellness. Cougar Fit Club (CFC) is something I have already began working on during my short time with PATH. The role that I play in that is ensuring young families feel supported and excited about not only their own health promotion but their involvement in cultivating a healthier community for us all!
