In the Spring of 2022, PATH restarted Cougar Fit Club, an after-school program for Mountain Heritage High School students. The program meets twice a week after school and promotes physical activity and peer-to-peer discussion. It creates an atmosphere of belonging while supporting students’ individual fitness goals, increasing food and nutrition knowledge, and encouraging overall healthy lifestyle choices.
Students have the opportunity to engage in physical activity at the Blue Ridge Fitness and Rehabilitation Center, local public parks, as well as on hikes within this beautiful county. This program would not be possible without our community partners such as Yancey County Transportation Authority, Blue Ridge Fitness and Rehabilitation Center, and Snakeroot Ecotours.
“It means having fun with your friends, being there for one another, helping each other out, and being a team player.”
