Donna Banks has been an integral part of the Cougar Fit Club at Mountain Heritage High School since the beginning — handling all the work at school by recruiting, interviewing, and serving as the school liaison with members. The program could not function without someone at the high school willing to do the work necessary to enroll qualified students, and Donna has done an amazing job.
It’s hard to identify Donna’s greatest contribution (there have SO been many)! What will be most missed is her love of students and her compassion to helping them improve their lives. According to Dan Graham, the program’s co-coordinator, “Donna is special in her ability to relate to young people and mentor them. It will be hard to replace her.”
As Donna embarks on her retirement from the Yancey School District, PATH wishes to honor her for the role she has played in the success of the Cougar Fit Club. Dan shares: “Donna is a longtime colleague and friend, who exemplifies a true leader in caring and helping not just young people, but everyone she interacts with.”
